Moreover our Events tool perfectly syncs with your Google Calendar so you can get a complete picture of your future plans, activities and projected expenses.

How do I create a new Event?

An Event is a planned activity due to take place on a specified date. Most of the times the occurrence of an Event involves money spending (e.g., attending a birthday party) or money saving (e.g., getting your monthly paychecks), that's why Event planning has become an intrinsic part of personal money management and budgeting applications. Follow these basic steps to add a new Event in your InEx account:

  1. Access Events option from the top menu.
  2. In the displayed calendar, click on the date you want your Event to start on (use the horizontal scroll-bar on top of the calendar to move through various months and years).
  3. In the New Event window, provide a Name for your upcoming Event and supply details of the Transaction associated with it.
  4. In the Schedule section, leave “None” for Repeat field if you are creating a one-time Event. Otherwise browse through our wide selection of Repeat options to define the occurrence rule for your Recurrent Event.
  5. In the Notification section, select a day and time when the system should send an Event reminder to your mailbox.
  6. When you are finished, click on Create button to add your new Event.

Note: You can also create a new Event if you access the Event Rules page from Events drop-down list and click on “Add Event” link.

How will I be notified about my upcoming Events?

You will receive automatic Reminders directly to your mailbox based on the Notification parameters you selected while creating your Events. The advance Reminder will reflect details of the upcoming Event and associated Transaction data. Please check the Notifications option in your account settings to make sure your InEx email address is confirmed, otherwise you won't be able to receive Event Reminders.

What is an Operation?

When the Event Reminder date is reached, the system will automatically generate an income or expense operation based on the data you supplied during Event creation. This operation will be posted to your Operations board on the right side of the Events page. You will also be alerted to the number of your Operations on the account Overview and dashboard pages.

An Operation is a Transaction that has yet to be confirmed. You may choose to Confirm or Delete any Operation by clicking on the corresponding icon on the Events page or in the table on the Operations page. Any Operation that is not confirmed within 60 days will be automatically deleted.

What are Event Rules?

The Event Rules represent the parameters you assign to your one-time or Recurrent Events. The system will use this predefined data to create repeated Events and generate Recurring Transactions attached to them. The calendar populated with your previous, current and future Events is just a mirror reflection of your set of Event Rules.

How can I edit my Events?

You can update your Event information at any time. There are 2 ways to edit an Event: access the Events calendar and click on the Event entry you want to change (for Recurrent Events there is no need to go back and search for the original entry, you may click on any child entry), or simply click on the Edit icon next to the Event entry you want updated while on the Event Rules page. Regardless of the way you choose, you will arrive at the Edit Event page where you can apply your changes. When you are finished, hit Update button.

Note: When you are updating a Recurrent Event, all linked Event entries (the original and recurrently generated ones) will also be affected by your changes.

How can I delete an Event?

You can delete an Event using either of the following 2 methods:

  1. Access the Events calendar and click on the Event entry you want removed (for Recurrent Events there is no need to go back and search for the original entry, you may click on any child entry). On the Edit Event page, click on Delete button; or
  2. Access the Event Rules page from Events menu and click on Delete icon next to the Event entry you want removed.

Before confirming the Event deletion, please bear in mind that for a Recurrent Event:

  1. All child entries and parent entry will permanently be removed.
  2. All Operations generated from the deleted Event will be destroyed as well.
  3. All prior Transactions linked to the deleted Event won't be affected.

What frequency parameters does an Event have?

You can set your Recurrent Events to occur according to 5 Repeat patterns: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly, or None (for one-time Events). Further below is a short description of the first 4 Repeat patterns and their frequency parameters:

  1. Repeat Daily pattern – the system will set the Event Date as the start date for Recurrent Events generation.
    1. Interval – you can specify the daily periodicity of Event occurrence (e.g., if you choose Interval – 1, 7 or 22, then your Recurrent Events will occur every day, every 7 days, or every 22 days, respectively).
  2. Repeat Weekly pattern
    1. Week days – you can select a specific day or days of week (Monday, Tuesday, etc) when you want your Recurrent Events to occur.
    2. Interval – you can specify the weekly periodicity of Event occurrence (e.g., if you choose Interval – 1, 5 or 10, then your Recurrent Events will occur on the selected Week days every week, every 5 weeks, or every 10 weeks, respectively).
  3. Repeat Monthly pattern
    1. Day type – you may customize your monthly pattern either by Day of month (e.g., 7, 16, 29), or Day of week (e.g., Wednesday, Saturday). The system will set the Event Date as basis for the type you choose, in other words if you create an Event on the 10th of the month which happens to be the second Sunday of that month, then your Recurrent Events will occur on the 10th day of each month (if you select Day of month type), or on the second Sunday of every month (if you select Day of week type).
      1. For more complex Recurrent Events schedule (for instance, the last Sunday of every month which may occur on the fourth or sometimes on the fifth week of the month), it is advisable to use Day of week (Advanced) type.
        1. Week day – you can select a particular day of week (Monday, Tuesday, etc) when you want your Recurrent Event to occur.
        2. Day of Week offset – you can indicate the position of the selected Week day versus number of weeks within that month (e.g, if you choose Week Day – Monday, and Day of Week offset - “-1” or “3”, then your Recurrent Events will occur on the last Monday of every month, or on the third Monday of every month, respectively).
      2. For more particularized Recurrent Events schedule (for instance, the last day of every month which may be on the 30th, 31st, 28th or rarely on the 29th), it is advisable to use Day of month (Advanced) type. If you select "-1" for Day of Month offset, then your Recurrent Events will occur on the last day of each month, regardless of the number of days in a month.
    2. Interval - you can specify the monthly periodicity of Event occurrence (e.g., if you choose Interval – 2, then your Event will occur based on the selected Day type every 2 months).
  4. Repeat Yearly pattern – the system will set the day of month of your Event Date as basis for generating Recurrent Events on a yearly basis.
    1. Interval - you can specify the yearly periodicity of Event occurrence (e.g., if your Event Date is April 5, 2011 and you choose Interval – 3, then your Recurrent Events will occur every 3 years on the 5th of April).
  5. For all Repeat patterns you can indicate the End status – if you want the system to stop generating Recurrent Events at a certain point in time, you may select: Never, or Count (when a specified Occurrence count is reached), or Until (when a specified Until date is reached).
