How do you enter a rebate in an expense category (such as shopping) so that it does not show as part of your income in Overview?
I tried unsuccessfully to enter it as a negative expense!

Hello James!

You can't add a negative expense in InEx Finance.
As an alternative you can do the following:
1. Access the original transaction the said rebate refers to;
2. Open to edit the transaction and click on Items tab;
3. Click on "+" sign and enter the original Expense amount of your transaction;
4. Then click again on "+" sign and enter the amount of the rebate in the Income field;
Then you'll see the adjusted total amount of your transaction.
